Keith Allen Harward fundraising event
In 1982, Keith Allen Harward was tragically and wrongly accused of a crime he did not commit and was sentenced to life in prison without parole. Just recently, the INNOCENCE PROJECT took on his case, and through new DNA testing by the Virginia Department of Forensic Science conclusively identified another man (since deceased). So, on April 7th, 2016, after 33 years of wrongful imprisonment, Mr. Harward was released from the Nottoway Correctional Center, VA. To date, this is the fifth writ of actual innocence granted by the Supreme Court of Virginia based on new biological evidence. You can find out more in The Guardian and Richmond Times.
Now, at age 60, Mr. Harward is free, but has a long difficult stretch of road ahead of him as he begins to acclimate to, as well as navigate a world largely changed, and without means of a viable income. I have been corresponding regularly with Mr. Harward since the beginning of 2006 and over the past decade, have collected many wonderful pencil/pastel drawings (mainly of birds) created by him. What can I say? Keith loves birds. These images are now available as Limited Edition Giclee Prints accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity. Proceeds from the sale of these prints will be sent to a fund set up for Keith.
